A Beautiful Redwood Home (Hale) Filled with Wonderful Antiques and Art
The Farmhouse features an open floor plan, with oak floors and bamboo ceilings, with the Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room as one large room with views of the farm.
Two of the bedrooms open up to a huge screened in porch (lanai) and there is both an indoor and outdoor Solar Heated shower and bath. The Dining Room features an antique dining table and chairs that can sit up to eight when expanded. You can also enjoy the dining area on the Lanai overlooking the Jungle.
The house was built in 1970, for a family that lost their home in the Kapoho Eruption in 1960. It is a classic solid redwood home designed by the famous home builder Harold E. Hicks and features his signature design elements that include Clear Heart Redwood Interior and Exterior Single Walls. Oak Flooring was another key wood standardized design feature and offered durability and comfort as the lighter color of the oak complimented the redwood walls. Jalousie windows were a standard design feature to maximize the tradewinds and, once again, the comfort of the homeowners.
Plenty of Room for Entertaining and Relaxing
The Living and Dining areas are a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Oriental rugs compliment the oak floors and the windows allow for great filtered lighting and cool breezes.
Our favorite room in the house is the large 20x10 feet lanai (porch) that is screened in and provides a great way to enjoy views of the jungle and gardens. Great for bird watching too! Sliding glass doors offer private entrances to two of the bedrooms and stairs lead to a optional outdoor shower.
The Kitchen includes a gas range and stove, large refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and a great collection of retro plates and dishes. The Bar includes bar stools for casual dining. And with all the great Hawaiian local fish and grass fed beef available, you can grill a great meal on the covered outdoor barbecue patio located next to your kitchen door.
